About Victoria Harris

Victoria started her career as a treatment provider for individuals involved in the justice system and assisting individuals with reintegrating into the community. Working in this setting sparked an interest in understanding how one’s life experiences, and in particular trauma, influence behaviors and decision making. By working to understand the impact of one’s lived experiences, she believes that we can build upon that knowledge and create positive changes without losing the person who lived through those moments.

She has experience with a variety of concerns, including anxiety and depression, substance use, addictive behaviors, and life stressors. In particular, she enjoys using her knowledge and skills to support individuals in navigating relational and developmental traumas and the many ways in which these concerns can disrupt one’s life. This can look like improving communication and boundary setting, processing abuse and neglect, improving emotional awareness, or addressing addictive or compulsive behaviors that developed as an attempt to cope.

Victoria has developed a person-centered and holistic approach, grounded in cognitive behavioral techniques and trauma-informed care. This allows her to look at how our behaviors are influenced by our thoughts, emotions, and ingrained belief systems, while also recognizing and respecting the source of these behaviors. She is also trained in EMDR, which she has found to be a very effective tool in repairing belief systems that are causing distress. Her focus is on supporting clients in reaching their own goals and following their lead on what progress looks like in their lives. She values autonomy and strives to ensure that the therapeutic process is collaborative.
