Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect as a client?
Therapy, in general, is a professional relationship that empowers diverse individuals and groups to accomplish mental health, wellness, education, and/or career goals. By participating you can improve communication and interpersonal skills, increase self-acceptance, change self-defeating behaviors/habits, effectively manage and express emotions, find relief from depression, anxiety or other mental health conditions, and increase confidence and decision-making skills.
Are there any disadvantages to therapy?
There are limitations to participating in therapeutic services. These limitations may include not being covered by your insurance, or the therapist may not be accessible during times of crisis or between sessions. You may also experience intense emotions or increases in stress during or after the sessions. In a group therapy setting some disadvantages include schedule conflicts, limited confidentiality, or clash of personalities.
Are there certain clients you don’t work with?
While the therapeutic approaches used at Total Wellness 365 are effective for a broad range of problem areas, please be advised that we do not accept the following: young children (under 13yrs old) or geriatrics, individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, or those needing crisis and between-session interventions.
Is tele-therapy a good fit for me?
Tele-Therapy (or telehealth) has become more popular and a more widely accepted platform for many clinicians. However, not all insurance plans cover therapy session via telehealth. You are responsible to verify coverage. Telehealth offers access and continuity of care to your chosen therapist, and schedule flexibility.
What can I expect during an assessment?
Expect to have the process and purpose of the assessment explained to you. You will be asked a lot of questions so the assessor can thoroughly complete the assessment. You have the right to take a break or discontinue the assessment. The length of time to complete an assessment depends on what assessment is being conducted and the participation, but typically around 1-1.5 hours.
What licenses can be supervised?
There are two types of supervision; clinical and administrative. Clinical supervision is a distinct intervention that is provided by a senior clinician to a junior clinician(s) for evaluative and supportive purposes, often as a means for licensure advancement as with interns, or to meet ethical standards of client care. Administrative supervision focuses on improving the efficiency of the delivery of services, maintaining the goals of the profession and agency and protecting clients of the agency from harm.
Our clinical supervisors are independently licensed in Ohio and Kentucky. Other licenses including chemical dependency and social work, may be administratively supervised. Each licensee is strongly encouraged that to verify with their own Board the requirements and expectations.
do you offer continuing education (CE’s)?
At this time, we are not able to issue Continuing Education credits (CE's) from the Ohio CSWMFT or Kentucky LPC Boards. The approval process is underway and updates will be provided as they occur. Stay up to date by signing up for the newsletter!
